Hey I'm Wesley, I'm a family photographer based in Portland.
Capturing families means a lot more to me than just taking photos and getting paid. When my dad passed away I only found around 10 good photos of us, but my favorite two photos are one’s that captured a candid, authentic moment we shared together. They have become priceless to me.
I get so much meaning and joy from capturing these kinds of photos that I hope we can create an experience together that turns your authentic moments into an artful story of your family.
A Family Portrait
Although most of my photos consist of capturing everyday moments, I love including some standard portraits too, mostly because the in-between moments that happen are gold. The Prewitt’s eldest is ready to embark on a journey, Soren(Their middle) is already dozing off while mom and dad try and get the attention of their youngest. These moments are priceless and speak volumes about each family members’ personality.
A Rainy Day in Vancouver
This shoot of these sisters happened on one of the worst weather days and yet we had so much fun as you can tell. These sisters wanted to do a shoot for their dad who had just been moved to hospice. It’s probably one of the most meaningful shoots I’ve done to date.
A Quiet Moment
I always try to get a few photos of the parent’s. This photo was taken right at the end of the shoot. The children were done and playing in the other room and I asked mom and dad if they would spend a minute or so together in silence. I love how they are framed by the windows and light in this picture. It feels so quiet amidst the chaos that comes from parenting sometimes.
All My Children
I absolutely love this spontaneous moment that happened in this shoot. While mom was holding her baby, her oldest leaped towards her from the top of his bunk bed and gave her a kiss right as the baby started yawning. It’s a perfect authentic moment.
Wesley came to our home to take photos of our family and was incredibly accommodating. With three kids under 5 years old family photos can be stressful, but Wesley and Irene were amazing with our kids and made us feel comfortable. Everything felt natural and we often weren't even aware of the creative candids he was getting while we did normal family stuff. Those ended up being some of our favorite photos. Wesley will be our family's photographer for years to come. We can't wait to hire him again.
I love how our pictures came out! Our time with Wes was so relaxing without the pressure of putting on the "perfect pose" especially with a toddler. I just focused on having fun with my daughter knowing he could capture us as our most natural selves; that makes me cherish our pictures even more!
A photo shoot of four camera-shy sisters on a bitter cold afternoon (accompanied by wind, rain and hail) is not exactly a recipe for success. Yet somehow, Wes got pictures that were not only terrific (shot from unique perspectives, drawing out the lights and contrasts in the background) but also captured the raw essence of our sisterly camaraderie and made it beautiful. We were amazed at the photos that resulted from that day!”

This is a 1.5 hour session in your home where we’ll create a space together capturing you and your family in the most authentic way possible.

Have a favorite outdoor location that’s meaningful to you and your family? Let’s go on an adventure together where I’ll capture those everyday authentic moments as you experience your favorite place as a family.

Mini session
This is a short 20 minute session where you will receive 10-20 photos from a location of your choosing. All of the photos will be high resolution downloads.

*Both packages include an online gallery with a minimum of 50 photos (usually end up with over 100) that comes with free high-resolution downloads.

What is the best time for photo shoots?
The best time of the day for light is usually towards the beginning or end of the day. That being said my sessions revolve around the best time that works for you as a family.
Can you help us with our styling and wardrobe?
Absolutely! Both of the packages come with a styling guide where I can help you create the most authentic and aesthetically pleasing clothing selections.
What if we are terrible at posing, my kids don’t like the camera or never sit still!
Even better! My style and shoots are designed to capture the playful and flexible reality of being a family! I love capturing the moments that don’t go to plan.
